In jail for what? Awaiting trial. Already convicted and looking to appeal? Sounds like you need a criminal defense attorney. If you know anyone who uses an attorney for anything ask to get a referral. If you can't afford an attorney (for criminal defense of it goes to trial you are looking at $10k plus) the Public Defender's office must provide representation, however you get what you pay for.
