My Windows OS is Windows XP Home edition. Recently I downloaded a Windows Upgrade and become XP SP2.

I downloaded some installation files for different programs like BitComet and uTorrent. Both does not run or launch.

What's the problem?

If you've recently formatted, you may not have a good unzip utility (the built-in one in windows is pretty crappy, tbh). You could get winzip or winrar like previously mentioned, or you could get iZarc, the ultimate zipping utility and never need any other one no matter what the compressed file is called! http://www.izarc.org/download.html to download to izarc.

If it's an .exe file and it's not installing, make sure windows isn't keeping you from "installing a potentially dangerous program". And make sure that piece of crap built-in windows firewall is turned off. If it's still not installing, try to get another download of it as maybe that one is somehow corrupt.

If you're talking bout .rar, .zip files, try downloading WinZip and WinRAR. It might have been erased during the reformatting.

If it's the .exe files.. Well, it may not be .exe files. Check on it by selecting its Properties and see what kind of file it is. It might be an archive, or compressed exe and blah blah.
