The prioritization of one over the other has nothing to do with patriotism, buddy, either way people choose. It has to do with how they see the priority of national interest. It is a matter of personal opinion and doesn't have a right or wrong answer.

Personally, I see no reason my tax dollars should be spent helping people rebuild homes on a silt island below sea level. It makes no sense to build there, and to expect my tax dollars to bail them out next time, too. I'd rather pay to relocate them so the government doesn't take my money to bail them out again.

Currently, helping the people in Iraq is also a national priority equal to helping the people of NOLA. It is part of a larger geo-political event, and it is important to our national security interests.

But it would be stupid to call favoring either one a sign of patriotism or non-patriotism.

We have poured billions into New Orleans and the result is those parts of the big easy that worked before are working again, those parts of the city that were a failed exercise in liberalism continue to fail, case closed. As to Iraq it is not so important to help the average Iraqi as it is to stabilize that country. Different agenda different tactics, no similarity among these two situations

Hey, if New Orleans really wants the "help" of the Federal Government, they ought to declare that they're in league with Al Qaeda. The Feds will come immediately!

Or they should start work on their own Nuclear weapon.

Well, when the crisis in New Orleans occurred we were already here in Iraq. But we soldiers left it up to you guys, those left back at home to take care of our families at home.

The help needed in New Orleans is long overdue. The soldiers need to be brought home immediately, no question. The 10 billion dollars in aid (Iraq's own money) that was supposed to be handed out to needy Iraqis that went missing needs to be accounted for. Just leaving the Iraqis alone would help them. Funny how our government forgets about our own citizens when dollar signs are flashing abroad.

We did help the people in chocolate town as the mayor likes to call it.Many of us donated to salvation army and the united way not to mention our tax dollars. Many of us opened up our homes to them.Only to have them screw us,the very people trying to help them,at least the people in Iraq appreciate the help.I wouldnt give another penny to New Orleans, others in La and Mississippi but not directly to New Orleans.Screw us once, shame on you, screw us twice, shame on me.

The first one is so corrupt that most of your money finds it way in someones pocket not someones stomach. The second one is a no brainer. No amount of money or assistance will help the Iraqis. They are like sharks in a feeding frenzy of torture, murder mayhem and self destruction.
