He died on February 18th, 1915, on the Samuel Farm, at the age of 72.
Jim Cummings! What of Jim? He was never arrested, never tried, never given away, even when the outlaw gang had ceased to exist, despite the reward of five thousand dollars for his apprehension. He wandered through many states of the Union, he tried his hand at many jobs. There is a tale that for a time he filled the position of U.S.Marshal. It may be true. It probably is true. It would not be the first or the last time a 'wanted' man posed as an officer of the law. Jim Cummings died peacefully some few years after Frank James and Cole Younger. With his death, the last of the famous outlaw gang went to eternal glory.

(Just wanted to share some of the old time book with you.)
