We want to move to that area and my hubby will be working in Richardson, TX. So we were looking at surrounding areas with good schools. Any suggestions?

I looked on mapquest and it said a 25 minute drive, but is that right with traffic? Is there a lot of traffic on I30? It seems to be the only way to get to Rockwall? Is that right?

Nope... LOTS of ways... I traveled that area every day...

From Richardson....

Go to Campbell RD (Travel East)

Take a Right on George Bush (I-190) Toll Road (Cost you 40 cents).

Follow G Bush all the way till it ends. Watch out Stay in the 2nd to fast lane.. 2 FAR Right lanes EXIT.

The speed reduces once you hit Garland Area, There is a school zone... They are doing construction so WHEN you go there may be a new exit called Firewheel Parkway, but right now 190 ends into Firewheel. There is a HOME DEPOT and LOWES on your RIGHT

There are 2 Right hand turn lanes and 1 left hand turn lane... Be in the CENTER LANE.. That is the 2nd to the fast lane when you are on the freeway.

Turn RIGHT onto Firewheel.

Firewheel Parkway turns into Rowlett RD..

Take it to HWY 66 and turn right onto 66...

Here is a mini map by mapquest... Just mind that they ARE doing construction at the Firewheel Area...

I can't explain it any easier... Hope it helps. OH.. It probably will take you a little longer than 30 minutes to travel.. BUT.. It's so much nicer than 635, 30, and 75.....

Seems like a far drive to me. You have to get across the lake and get onto the GW Bush toll road and then some south. The getting across the Lake part seems the worst. If you are interested in that part of town, look at Rowlett on the other side of the lake. Also the Sasche area is fairly close to 190 and has a fast growing school system.

If you want to live in the city, the Richardson school system is one of the best around. Richardson has some nice older areas with very reasonable house prices, but you have to watch the neighborhoods because some are very transitory. Also Plano East or the Parker area might be good for you.

Good luck.

You could go out of your way to go to the Forbidden City and Xi'an soldiers models in Katy. A taste of China in the middle of nowhere. Totally worth it!

You have to go to mapquest.com and go to directions. Then once you have typed in your information it will tell you how long it will take and how many miles you will have to travel.
