First thing you want to do is find out what the nature of the audition will be (for this, you can ask the director): will you be reading from the script, or will you be asked to bring in prepared material. If it's going to be reading from the actual text, see if you can get a copy in advance, and read it over as many times as you can. By the time you audition, you might be able to play some of the scenes you're given from memory...believe me, this makes a BIG impression on a director.
If you're asked to perform a monologue, start whipping it into shape right now...don't wait for the day (or the week, even) before the audition to start preparing.
Good luck!

Prep time. Prep. time, and what else, oh let me see. Yeah that's it. Preparation. the more you sing and prepare for this, the more you will slam dunk it.
A few thoughts from me. I am not the best ever, but I have been acting professionally now for a few years so I guess I'm OK.
1, be nice. the director wants to see that you are nice to work with.
2, be direct able. show that you are able to listen to what they say and do it.
3, don't be afraid. Fear will kill your chance. No fear will get you the part. Make a fool of your self, show that you will not hold back.
4, SHOW UP. This might sound silly, but showing up will get you past 90% of the other people. Be there in mind and body.
Brake a leg.

Well, I guess you must be that prepared for the audition.. Try your really really best, set your mind into it. Just aim on it as your goal, think that in the end after putting much effort you will be rewarded.. Try to be confident and put more than 100% of your effort into it.. It's something that you like that means you have to do things that will enable you to achieve it..
Good luck!! :)

you need to practice being life like once you act. practice projecting your voice and making it sparkling so that they are going to comprehend what you're saying. do not substitute your voice, be your self. Drink lots if water. Then learn and get conscious of the play, what the characters are like and their personalities. this may help exceptionally once you understand what personality you're auditionng for. also pay interest to the time period. Do your maximum ideal it is what counts maximum. desire each and everything will bypass easily :)

Be emotional, and believable. It stick in casting directors heads. My experience is in film, but I'm sure it'll be the same with stage. You just have to have that special presence. Can you be Pinocchio?

find a good voice coach for lessons and learning how to take care of your voice.
make sure you practice daily, and have your part from memory.
a good coach should have you also do scales and etudes to improve vocal range and endurance.
