Respect for tradition and history.
Temperance.
Protection of individual liberties.
Value in personal responsibility.
Government representative of the people.
Civic participation and discourse.
Possibility.
Little governance over personal matters (i. e. you can't legislate morality, religious choice, etc.).
Security.
Honor.
Strength (physical, intellectual, and of spirit).
Kindness and charity.
Balance.
Ethics.

There is no way to say what 'American' values and ideals are because America is made up of so many cultures. Each of these cultures has their own values and ideals. Also, America is mostly individualist, each person has their own ideas about the world. There is one main idea that most Americans value, the idea of being free.
