Just this morning my Planar monitor just doesn't seem to stay on. Even during the screen where everything is unplugged and it says "No Signal". I know my 5yr old was messing around down here last night but could there be a setting on the monitor itself that doesn't allow it to stay on? I plugged the monitor into my laptop as a dual screen and it does the same weird thing. The only time it displays is when I change the resolution and then it shuts down almost instantly. thanks in advance.

Your 5 year old might have changed the refresh rate to one higher than the monitor supports.

Since you don't have time to change anything before the monitor shuts off, try to boot into safe mode and uninstall your monitor.

Reboot the computer and it should come back for you. You might have to reinstall the monitor driver for advanced settings.

Your monitor is not getting a signal. Check and make sure all of the connections are good. Make sure none of the pins on the connectors are bent. It is normal for the monitor plug to be missing a couple of pins.

Try another monitor on your computer and try your monitor on another computer that will tell you which one is not working right.

it would appear that if it's doing this on anything you hook it to, that either the cable is bad or the relays inside the monitor are bad. in this case, it isn't worth trying to get it fixed but rather obtain a new monitor.

Hi. Check to see if there are buttons on the monitor. One may by "Mode" or some such. See if you can find a "Reset to defaults".
