Breast feeding is, of course, a good thing, a natural thing, and a normal thing. But so are hundreds of other personal, natural behaviours that we don't find it appropriate to do out in public. It isn't anything to do with the "rightness" or "wrongness" of the breastfeeding mother. It's about the fact that whether we like it or not, there are some people also walking around in public with warped brains, and inclined to respond to the sight of something like this in a wrong way. This is why Society feels a lot safer a nd more comfortable when rational minded people do everything possible not to provoke the worst behaviours in that kind of individuals.
I have had many female friends with young babies and when I have been at their home at a time when the child needed to be fed, even though I was a close friend, and not some "kook" the mother, just out of pure habit of behaving decorously, fed her child as covered, and "un-obviously" as possible. It says a lot about the woman's sense of dignified and appropriate behaviour.
It is important to set some restrictions and standards, because if we do not, unfortunately there are going to be a whooooole lot of mothers who don't give a darn about dignity or appropriateness, who will take some weird pleasure in pure exhibitionism. Combine that kind of behaviour with the mental quirks of the wackoes out there, and I think we would end up seeing a lot of very disturbing consequences.

If you're comfortable go for it.
I'm not... i mean i fed my daughter in the car, with my shirt over her face (or one of those baby changing restrooms that are meant for that kind of thing with an individual booth with a curtain...)
there was no way i was going to even throw a blanket over my shoulder and feed my baby in public where everyone could see me, anyway i would end up having to chase after my son lol
It's not illegal. It's a lot easier than trying to deal with a bottle and finding somewhere to warm it. Some people dont agree with it or wouldnt do it personally... but aslong as i'm not having to deal with some strangers breast up in my face..... it's a beautiful feeling to be able to breastfeed.... properly :) why should it be a problem if the mother breastfeeds in public.... it's all natural, it's all good. Don't like it, turn away...
It's only wrong when the children are at school age and still breastfeeding.... in public or not!!!

My opinion is that it is going to no longer be an argument. it incredibly is unhappy while all people is disgusted by ability of the organic issues our bodies do and could do. Your infant has to devour, you're equipped with some thing sturdy to feed him, so do it!!!! I certainly can not comprehend those with a topic with breastfeeding. ok, so it does not paintings for each individual. yet while it works for you, then super! I do exactly no longer see something incorrect with the two way of feeding infant, and don't see how all people else can, the two. i'm making plans to breastfeed, and that i can declare, i can not be as shy as maximum women are approximately it.i became into in Motherhood Maternity shop in the mall the different day and a youthful woman in all probability in her 20's truthfully got here in, in tears, asking the government if she ought to breastfeed in the dressing room so human beings would provide up being so advise to her. How terrible!!! the government had to console her for a jointly as in the past she had the braveness to bypass away the shop. while women are made to experience like that over some thing so organic, some thing their physique became into of course made to do (or it does no longer do it), then I say that there is a few thing incorrect.

Baby comes first, and the best way to nurture a healthy baby is to feed to hunger. It is difficult, impractical, and sometimes impossible (on airplanes where you are no longer able to carry on liquid items) to feed with a bottle. Also, if you nurse and switch to a bottle too soon, you can cause nipple confusion that can adversely affect baby's ability to get the nutrition he or she needs. A women should nurse whenever and wherever she needs to ensure the health of her child. It is irresponsible to suggest she do anything less.

Having said that, I do think there is something to be said for discretion: a lightweight wrap, blanket, or shawl works well, and there are a number of great nursing clothes available to aid with discrete nursing.

I think it is possible to cover yourself while breastfeeding in a way that will not make the people around you in public uncomfortable. Breastfeeding is wonderful, I highly favor it as the best possible nutrition for the infant. It does make many people uncomfortable though, in a public setting, and I think it's possible to both breastfeed and be aware of your public presence. There are many clothing manufacturers who make clothing just for this purpose. I always found it possible to find a place to breastfeed without having to make the general public a part of my feeding process.

I think it is fine, as long as they are covered up. It is a natural thing and some women are totally comfortable with it. I think that is great. You will not understand both sides of the matter until you become a mother. It is hard to go anywhere when you are breastfeeding!

I never did it, because I always wanted privacy.

Why should it be a problem? That's what breasts are for... to feed the baby. If America were not so sexually perverted, it wouldn't be a problem. You eat in public, don't you? I breast fed my daughter, but never did it in public....

Despite being a woman, I don't really want to see it. But if its done, do it tactfully. Don't just whip out a breast and do it in front of everyone.

I went to a wedding and during the cocktail hour before the reception, my date and I sat down across from a woman with our drinks and all the sudden I look over and there she is, engorged breast out, with a baby attached. It really surprised me and made us both uncomfortable.
