I am 45 years old and stop taking the pill two months ago. Last month I got my period on January 20 day 32, I have been keeping track of my basel temp my temp dropped on day 15 and slowly went up for 5 days has stayed up for the past 10 days. I am on day 30 now and took a home preg test - it was negative, I feel pregnant - very sore breasts, could I be pregnant? When might I have ovulated and what day would my period be due?

A thermal shift in your basal temps indicating ovulation doesn't always happen in one day. It can be a gradual change. If your temps have stayed elevated since your thermal shift, then chances are you ovulated. Exactly what day, I can't say. Maybe you can find more info about this on fertilityfriend.com. I charted my temps on their web-site. You can chart your temps for free, so it wouldn't hurt to input your data and see what they have to say about your chart. Also, you may have tested too early. I always had 28-29 day cycles. When I was ttc, my OB wouldn't give me a blood test until day 32 because I had been given hcg injections, which is the same hormone your body produces when you are pregnant. Both times I conceived I had taken hpt's on day 32 because I wouldn't get my blood tests back for a day. I only got faint lines on those days, which was 3-4 days past my scheduled period. The hcg hormone level doubles every 2-3 days when you're pregnant, so wait a few days and retest. It's possible your hcg levels just aren't high enough yet. Good luck!

You absolutely could be pregnant. I did my HPT on day 29 (I usually have pretty short cycles, up to 27 days) and it was negative. About 5 days later I did a blood test to measure HCG levels and it showed I was pregnant. I felt pregnant too; I had a weird taste in my mouth and my breasts were tender. What you should know is that it is very possible (and common) to get a false negative on a HPT. If it is positive however, then you are definitely pregnant (there's no mistake with that) but the other way round, there can be mistakes. So go to your doctor and do an HCG blood test.

The HGc hormone, which is detected on a home pregnancy test, doesn't get into the urine right away. A blood test from your GP is the best way to tell. Sore breasts and erratic periods can also be a sign of the onset of menopause, so talk to your doctor. It's best to know if your preggers right away so you can eliminate anything from your diet/activity that could be harmful to the fetus. Keep in mind, too, that if you've just stopped taking the pill after years of doing so, your hormones are trying to regulate themselves again, and that may be all this is. But a blood test will be your best bet.

your body could just be going through menstrual changes. I feel pregnant almost every time I ovulate and that didn't happen until after I had my son. Sore breasts are a very common sign that your ovulating and bout to get your period. Do you have any other symptons?
