It's weird, I never like my name (Lucy) when I was a kid, I thought it sounded too "middle class", but now I'm just relieved my parents didn't name me any of the names that have become popular due to celebs or fashion. There is a kid at my daughters school who is called Mona Lisa, lovely name, but can you imagine that poor child trying to be taken seriously in the future as a Doctor, or Lawyer or something? Good plain old fashioned names are the ones that stand the test of time, not fashionable pop culture ones. I wonder how many Jades or Siennas have been born over the last few years?

I like my name but if I had to change it I would like it to be like McX...or O'X.
But my name is not a problem... No... My surname is a problem because it is an old french surname and it is hard to pronounce in other countries... For example, my hostess in England couldn't pronounce it and it was more like the bark of a dog than my surname. As she couldn't pronounce it, she decided not to talk to me ! Many times I thought about changing it. I told me, if I could change my surname to another, it would be a surname easier to pronounce for everyone in every country... The Australian, the English, the Canadian, the American have surname that are easier to pronounce than French and today more and more people use surname coming from English.

I love my name... My parents choose our names from the bible... the only unfortunate thing is that on first hearing my name, people always think I'm called Denise, as my name sound similar. The other upside is that I have only ever met one other person with my name. Its just a shame they had to use it on that annoying woman on Emmadale!

My name is short, sweet and unique. Everyone remembers it, but because it is unusual, people do sometimes pronounce it or spell it incorrectly. But on the whole, I am pretty happy with it. Well done to mum and dad for making such a wise choice!
