actually the rebroadcast is completely legal as long as u are not making a profit off of it..DVR's and TivO have become quite popular and if this were an illegal function these items would not be permissed....And how can it be illegal if the cable and satellite companies distrubute these to their customers so record away

Technically no. You are in breach of copyright. However, it is one of those odd situations where due to the invention of something that allows it to happen, it does!
