I've seen a poster of an Andy Warhol work - I have no idea of its name and I'd really like to find out.

The overall image was of a deserted highway, probably in the western United States. I remember rusty beercans on the ground and bullet-holed roadsigns with the number of the interstate or something.

But this wasn't just a drawing or photograph - it was one huge photograph made up of hundreds of individual photographs layered on top of each other into a massive collage.

Any ideas? I've searched online and drawn a blank.

Many thanks for your time.

Oh wow, thanks to my most recent Answerer - it WAS Hockney and I've just found it - it's called
Pearblossom Highway and if you're interested, you can see it here:

Are you sure it was Warhol? It sounds more like a Hockney 'joiner ' photo.

Edit: Here it is & it's 'Pearblossom Highway' by David Hockney.

I think Andy Warhol's art is many things. Andy started out as a photographer during the depression-hence his room full of pix of people committing suicide. Art-no, sensationalizim, maybe, using what he did to make a buck-definately! His silk screens were so advanced at his time. I especially like his Mickey Mouse, Marilyn Monroe and the series of silk screens he did of himself.. It was probably very cool to do that kind of stuff in his day. His room with the balloons is fun and the music from the" Velvet Underground" adds to the mystic of his art. Is he really an artist? Any one including children who use apaint brush, pencil, markers or any other art supply is . I think Andy was trying to get a lot a cross about commericalism and perhaps he did that well. The rest of his stuff, the punching bags with ink drawings of Jesus and photos of people leaping to their doom, do not impress me as art forms.. also. I believe he tried so hard to make a name for himself by trying to hang out with the artist he painted which didn't work, and for pushing the Velvet Underground as such a termendous musical force which it wasn't, is just one of his many attempts for his 15 minutes of fame. I think he succeeded at that though. I think you need to remember that when the Warhol Museum was opened, none of his so called celebrity friends showed up. Goes to show how much they thought of his work, and they were it. Art-sure. Good art- another story.
