The consensus opinion is Florida 1, SC 2 in this year's recruiting rankings but, consider this - SC got 4 of Scout.com's top 10 recruits, Florida got zero. SC has 7 of their top 25, Florida has 2. SC got the top two offensive playmakers (RB McKnight, WR Johnson), and two of the top three defensive playmakers (DE Griffen, LB Gallipo, the third, a DT went to UNC, not Florida). Florida won out on depth, not star quality, and the only reason they even won there was because SC had about 10 less scholarships available this year.

I wouldn't trade this years's SC class for anyone else's.

actually no. one could argue that USC got the best class, but according to all the expert rankings, Florida got #1 and USC was #2. Either way, they got a stacked class of recruits once again, you are right. This just goes to show that if you play in one of the "major" high school football states (Florida, California, Texas, Georgia, and Ohio) and you dominate the in-state talent, and also sign a few big time recruits that aren't from the area......you will continue to be good year in and year out. Teams like Tennessee don't have this luxury because the talent in Tennessee high school football is awful. So they have to get 80% of their recruits from other parts of the country.

USC, Florida, Florida State, Miami, Georgia, Ohio State, USC, and UCLA can have plenty of talent by signing in state prospects alone, although USC and a few other of these schools have a good track record with signing blue chips nationwide as well.

It seems to be not fair that USC keeps loading up like this, but it is mostly due to the huge talent pool right there in California, along with Pete Carrol being an unreal recruiter and coach.

I'm not a big fan of USC at all, but you have to give them credit. You can talk about their schedule, you can hate them all you want, but their consistency in stocking the team with talent is exceptional.

to SPACEBOY: that is just one website......if you look on other websites florida has more top ten, blue chips, etc.....florida is consensus number 1 overall and in top prospects....they signed everybody! but USC is very close behind, im just saying you cant go by one website. 1 of them has jimmy clausen as #1 overall, and another 1 has him 12th! (as some of them favor the west coast prospects more, etc)...it is hard to rank these guys who play in different parts of the country in high school

well considering that in the last five years USC has played in 2 BCS title games, back to back, and was voted the AP national champ prior to those appearance's and finished 3rd this last year after losing the starting backfield (which was made up of leinart, bush and white probably a top 10 all time backfield), id say the recruiting classes of the last 5 years are doing great! just watch out for what the Trojans will be doing over the next 5 years!!!!!

Oh St cant say the same...

USC is the best team in the nation. In fact, they are better than a lot of NFL teams. For instance, Chicago Bears.
