How does someone make a computer hibernate?

When you press the Start Key and then Shut Down, you should see a selection window where you can choose Shut down, hibernate, restart, etc...

Go to the Control Panel and open Performance and Maintenance.
Select Power Options.
Select Hibernate tab.
Enable Hibernate.
If Hibernate doesn't show up when you select Turn Off The Computer, press the Shift key to make it appear.

First hibernation has to be enabled. Right click on desktop and choose properties. Then click the screen saver tab and choose options under power. There should be a hibernation tab that will allow you to choose enable hibernation. Once it is enabled then will become a choice when shutting down
