I play the Powder Puff team. Our coach said girls are not allowed to play tackle.

Sexism, the same reason that body-checking in women's hockey is not allowed.

No inherent reason why women can't do these things and learn how to tackle/check and be tackled/checked without hurting themselves. And, if they get injured, why is this any more abhorrent then what happens to men? Women's sports have a long history of preventing body to body contact between players (see early basketball, which limited the amount of running because physical exertion and sweating were deemed non-feminine; or early arguments against allowing women to ride bicycles; also, there are set limits to how muscular a female bodybuilder is allowed to get in order to maintain some modicum of feminine sex appeal as part of the judging process, while men are allowed to build up as large as possible).

I say, if women want to play tackle football, all the power to them. Let 'em play. And while they're at it, they should feel empowered enough to pursue the necessary weight training and other any other exercise regimen needed to get in the best possible physical shape they need for sporting activity without the media and rest of society criticizing it for being 'unsexy'. Strong successful women are very, very attractive.

P.S. Why is it okay for young boys to be tackling each other, and laying each other out in body checks in hockey, but not okay for adult women?

Depends on what you are talking about girls can play high school football and College football but not Professional football. There was a girl on my high school football team. Here is a link of a girl playing in college football. As far as Professional football there is no rule saying a woman can't play that I could find so I guess if a woman is good enough and a coach wants to hire a woman to play professional football than they can. I doubt it will happen however.

Because it's a men's sport. like how guys aren't allowed to play field hockey. I'm not saying girls can't play football. If you want to play football you should go the Athletic Director and demand that you be allowed to play, cuz i've seen and played against girls before. I think most of the coaches and officials are just afraid of the problems it could cause off the field with girls on a boys team. They probably know a girl is capable of playign football, there are plenty that do, it's just the problems it brings off the field that they'd rather not deal with.

Boys really shouldn't play tackle football either, it's dangerous.

Anyway. Girls are usually valued much higher than boys, so they are usually kept safe from dangerous activities.

But hey, if girls want devalued themself and then do dangerous activities, feel free to do so.

Maybe not with guys, but they do have a WNFA which is a Women's tackle league for adults. I don't think there are any rules about women in the NFL actually.

They do.

You do realize that women are allowed to play in sports that men play in.

So just join the football team of your school, you have an equal opportunity to play with them, unless your coach is sexist, then you can get him fired.

Girl are allowed just prolly not in your school becaause they dont want you pretty girls to hurt yourself. I personally liek when girls play some of them are pretty good and fast and present a challenge.

If you want to play, tell the coach, superintendant of the school/league or whomever that they must let you try out and give you a fair shot at making the team. If not, it's called discrimination.

Sexism, and only sexism. The Girls over here in the UK play Rugby, and that is just as dangerous as football. Same type of tackles but no padding.
