I am for the death penalty! People like Jeffrey Dahmer and other heinous murderers who will never be of value to society, should be put to death to protect the rest of us. If I had my way, rapists would be put to death too. That is a crime that does not have strong enough sentences. The death penalty definitely discourages crime! It also saves our country millions of dollars that we would be spending on housing and feeding the prisoner not to mention all the money the government spends on the free medical care that this country provides to all prisoners.

Most definately FOR the death penalty
think that it should be reserved for the absolute
worse cases of crimes against society
but I also believe that the appeals process
should be limited to a restricted time also
and that once this process is done-- the
sentence is carried out !!!
But, there again-- I'm from Texas
and we have a fairly staunch view on such stuff !!!

Don't Mess with Texas !!!

No, I don't agree with the death penalty.

(Jeffrey Dahmer is dead, by the way.)

The death penalty does not deter crime. The death penalty was in effect during prohibition, for example, and that was once of the most crime-ridden eras in American history.

The death penalty sentence can be carried out only after a long appeals process has been exhausted. This process exists to assure that the conviction of the accused was without error. This appeals process is more expensive than the cost of feeding and housing and supplying medical care to an inmate over many years, so the death penalty does not save "millions of dollars."

I disagree with the death penalty. America is the last of dignified Nation to still have the death penalty. It also cost an absurd amount more carry out an execution, having the courts deal with all the appeals process. It would be much cheaper for the tax payers to just let them rot away in a jail cell.

The death penalty does not actually discourage crime. There have been many studies on this which prove your statement incorrect. The most important thing you need to understand is the person committing the crime does not plan on getting caught. Therefore why would the be afraid of the punishment. Second, the frame of mind that somebody committing a serious crime is in would not even care about the punishment at the time of the crime.

Depending on how serious the crime was i would agree but some people are getting the death penalty and they didn't do anything really bad.Like someone steals $10 and are sentenced to death is just wrong. the should just get 6 months in jail and if the do it again 2 years and do it that way.

When I look at people like Jeffrey Dahmer or Paul Bernardo I think that there should be the death penalty. But then when I think of David Milgaard (who was wrongfully convicted for rape and murder) I think that there should not be the death penalty. This is a hard question.

Yes, I do. Why should the Americans support a menace to society like that? We have to use tax money to buy 3 square meals a day, heat in winter and a/c in summer, CABLE/SATELLITE TV, etc. That's better than what millions of decent American citizens get every day-nothing.I say fry them all.

I live in Michigan. Over the summer, a couple killed their adopted son with mental disorders. The lady beat the kid to death with a hammer, broke his skull. The man just watched and cleaned up the body, throwing it in a ditch. They got caught. The guy pled guilty to 2nd degree, got 15 yrs. The lady got life in prison. Now, as a MIchigan citizen, I get to pay for their meals, heat, a/c, and television. Nope, no death penalty. FRY THEM ALL.

For those who say it is costlier to put someone to death than keep them up I say where is your logic? I mean the cost for the electric chair is a one time event. When you factor in the cost of food, medical care, guards pay, electricity, and then the cost of the medical care of other prisoners that is inflicted upon weaker prisoners well it seems to me it adds up. Year after year of the support costs adds up where as the one time cost of death well I just don't see your logic.

To answer the question I am all for putting the low down murdering scum suckers to death. I am all for putting child molesters to death. Of what good purpose are they to society. They will continue to murder.

I couldn't say yes or no.. I mean, yes, death penalty may be effective in eliminating bad people living committing crimes and other bad stuffs. as well as scaring other criminals from committing such.. But do a person on high authority has really the right to take one's life? when in fact it is said to be a crime even a sin when killing someone...

No I don't agree with the death penalty at all. If it discourages crime, why do we still have murders??? You really need to do some research on this issue. It's far costlier to execute someone than to put them in prison for the rest of their lives.

Society can be protected by locking up the individual. There's no need to end another life.

yes i'm for the death penalty.

did you know that Indiana was going to take, i think, about 300 Californian prisoners to be held in Indiana. I thought great idea, Indiana gets money from California and it opens up more room in the prisons in California. The prisoners objected complaining about their families not being able to see the. I thought that prisoners lost the majority of their rights. how is that? anyways, Yes I"m for the death penalty.
