Not very!

1. Births last alot longer than 30 or 60 mins.
2. Perfect make-up does not magically appear, a few mins. before the birth is to occur.
3 Now.. I did push my daughter out in 6 pushes, but MOST women will tell you, HA! Yeah, right.
4. The baby doesn't come out and magically age to 4months!
5.There is ALOT more blood and amnio fluid that comes out!!
6.The contractions lasts longer than 20secs!
7. Preemies spend ALOT more time in an NICU

Just a few things that were QUITE a bit different in real life!

Some of them are really daft - like Phoebe in Friends giving birth to triplets with hardly any medical personnel in the room. Others are a bit more realistic. But generally, realism isn't the main concern of tv programmes; they're more interested in what's going to work for their storylines. So a comedy will have births that are in some way funny; a drama will have dramatic births... and so on.

Well for starters birth on tv usually lasts about 5 minutes at most whereas the first birth, labour normally last 12 hours. Also a few screams and shouts and there's a baby who is the size of a 3 month old who is spotlessly clean.

Basically to answer your question - NOT VERY!!!!!!!!!!!

Childbirth on TV shows are generally no where near what an actual birthing experience is.

depends on what you're watching. i've seen some real ones on discovery health. also if you watch lifetime, strong medicine (older show they stopped making but they still play it) has some realistic births on there. i'd say most shows downplay the whole birth process though.

I'm not too sure, but I think it is fairly accurate. Of course, everyone's different. Also, they don't show the true pain the mother is going through.
