Is your husband a doctor?
If no then I'd also have a trained midwife on hand.
You need someone who knows what they are doing to supervise the progress of the labour and instruct your husband during the birth, and then, most importantly, what to do afterwards. Cutting and tying the cord, delivering the placenta, minimising the risk of infection for mother and infant, resucitating the baby if necessary etc
I know people say that giving birth is the most natural thing in the world but it can also be very dangerous if you don't know what to do. There are so many things than can go wrong at the very last minute and a situation can go from etherially fabulous to life threatening in a matter of seconds. In case of an emergency you really do need expert, professional medical help right there, right then; you also need to have someone who can keep a cool head if things do go wrong - normally the father isn't the best person for this.
Yes, women have been delivering babies with minimal assistance since the dawn of time but women have also been dying doing it.
There are also a few legal aspects to do with birth - the birth needs to be witnessed by an accedited professional so the birth can be registered etc. You'll have to check with your local authority but I'm pretty certain that unless it's a sudden delivery you will need to have medical supervision anyway.
I know that homebirthers everywhere will jump on my head for this, and I am a midwife, but I still believe the very best place for a woman to give birth is in a hospital or birthing centre where they can have access to life saving help should they need it.
Is there any reason that you want to do this, other than the fact is just sounds like a nice thing to do?

I understand that in the UK, it's illegal for anyone other than trained medical personnel to deliver a baby except in an emergency. So, if you went into labour suddenly and your husband was the only person around then he could help deliver the baby without breaking the law, but you wouldn't be able to plan to do this.

It is not advisable but yes you can(that's how they did it back in the day when they did not have all the hospitals and technology)BUT it is safer to deliver in a hospital where there are trained professionals and equipment just in case something were to go wrong.
Talk to your doctor about your husband delivering baby....my husband delivered my second daughter while the doctor was standing beside him coaching him on how to do it. Some doctors will not allow this for insurance purposes but it never hurts to ask.

Its not adviseable. There are many things that can go wrong. I mean the umbelial cord has to be cut , the baby could have any number of problems or difficulties when born and if anything were to happen to you or the baby you or both you and your husband could face multiple charges. Its not a risk I would assume a new mother would want to take. Medical proffessionals are here for a reason and therefore you need to go to a hospital really that is common sense.

Yes, but I recomend having professional help. I also wouldn't do it if you have had any complications or are expecting an abnormal delivery. Many people deliver at home and are perfectly fine. I prefer the comfort and safety of a hospital. Good luck with whatever you choose.

Yes, but I would not recomend it without proper research and precautions, and a proper plan if things go wrong. Talk to your doctor about it, they may support the idea, and there are classes that your hub can take to ready himself for anything that may come. Good luck!!!

Yes, it's called Unassisted Childbirth. Go to www.mothering.com/discussions and there is a whole section of people discussing UAC.
