The pyramid scheme quixtar- why do people act like oh "its of God" and all this when it clearly isn't and spend their last dime on the stuff and don't make anything off of it? it does not make sense.

because they have an engenious "self help / motivation" apparatus that pretty much brainwashes IBO's.

It becomes a cult.

Your upline (the guy that got you into quixtar) pretty much makes you listen to the "tools" which are basically audio of motivational speakers telling you how to succeed in the biz by trusting your upline and how quixtar is the greatest thign since sliced bread.

Self help tools are great (Dale Carnegie and Tony Robbins) and really helpful for personal reasons, they are also addictive.

The guy who thought up of using motivational tools to motivate quixtar interests is a genius.

If an IBO is performing poorly they wont show it, they are very postive and have a strong faith in the business.

Good question! But I'm not sure if it's entirely accurate in its premise. People do make money from their Quixtar businesses. Last year Quixtar paid out more than $370 million in bonuses and other incentives, and that doesn't include retail markup Independent Business Owners earn when they sell products to customers.

IBOs should not spend any "last dimes" on "stuff" in our business. When it comes to the actual products from Quixtar that IBOs market, we warehouse and ship the products so there's no need to invest in inventory on the part of IBOs. Many choose to purchase motivational and training materials from the systems they participate in, but they're all backed by money-back guarantees so there's no reason to go into debt or lose money. If they don't work or are not of value, return them!

Finally, the religious aspect. Is our business "of God?" I don't know. Christians believe God is the Creator of everything and that what transpires here on earth is part of His master plan. I think our business can be used to support a Christian lifestyle but it also can be used for evil purposes. It's how people use our business opportunity that makes it good or evil, beneficial or harmful.

For disclosure's sake, I'm Manager of PR for Quixtar so I am certainly biased. Our business is not without flaws, but it is working hard on the things we can fix.

No different than any MLM. The only way it can make money is to convince subsequent agents that there's value (there's not).
