I think it's common for people to do things like that when they get comfortable with you. If you want it to stop, you need to gentley break it to him that it bothers you. And if you can't beat 'em, join 'em...maybe he'll get disgusted when your private habits are displayed.
My husband passes gas, picks his ear wax, bites his nails and spits the pieces on the floor, and lets his toenails grow until they are long and disgusting. He was like that when I met him, and he's like that now. I can get over those things because he makes up for it in other ways.

Gross, no it isn't common, sounds as if he has no respect for you. Have you told him this is a total turn off? Me and my man has been together for 11 yrs, and we still don't do things like that. Only by accident has he ever heard, (or me) the gas thing, and mostly it was in his sleep. It is a respect thing.

My question is; Why is he your spouse? Didn't he do any of these things before you married him? It's hard to believe these habits were newly developed.
Many times during the courting phase, we overlook our partners "flaws". Unfortunately, the honeymoon ends and the little things that used to be cute or endearing become the greatest annoyances.

I guess the real question is, is he doing this in public. In the privacy of your own home , everyone tends to be more lax, but if his behavior is disturbing to other people and inapropriate for the location, then there is a huge problem. Just talk to him about it, and maybe he will see the errors of his ways.

This is not my experience. My partner does those things in private. If he has gas constantly, he may need to look at his diet to determine why. That does not sound normal.
But, this is your man. We all know our limits about what we can deal with. If you are concerned, tell him.

Yes, I do the same thing and I'm a woman. I just do it in private usually, but if my lover is around. I don't care. We're comfortable with the fact that we are indeed very human!

It is common, however disgusting and antisocial, behavior. Try talking to him about it. He may simply have habits he does without thinking about it. Together, you may be able to help him.
