I want to sell on-line but in my own webshop. Where do I start? Does anyone have any great suggestions for software or webshop services? It would be great to have an associate sales facility so that I can let other people use the same shopfront to sell to their clients via a sign on. Any ideas?

Try hostgator.com for $6.95 a month you get hosting, web site builder, OsCommerce - which will easily build you a very good shop and a paypment processor to accept money.

This is a description of OsCommerce: It features a rich set of out-of-the-box online shopping cart functionality that allows store owners to setup, run, and maintain their online stores with minimum effort and with no costs, fees, or limitations involved.

You will also need a domain name - try Godaddy.com (not registerfly - they have tremendous problems at the moment)

Lastly marketing - try www.GetIntoGoogleQuick.com

lastly good luck!

You could build your own website, via pre-formatted screens that you add your details to.

Then you could add a shopping cart and pay facilities using Paypal - it's the same company as ebay, but wouldn't need you to become a paypal retailer.

You'd pay Paypal transaction charges only, if you choose that payment structure.

To create more storefronts, you could rebuild the store on a new web address, and add any logo's etc that fitted each associate sellers.

I've assumed that you have minimal or low level of web building expertise and want an easy to create, manage and get immediate sales and payments from. Otherwise, I love Adobe Dreamweaver it's a great web building software tool. You may find your ISP provides you with some free space for a shop front. Then charge sales via your personal credit card validation service provider and payment channel.

Good luck! Rob

Well you have asked actually three questions.

1. Non ebay webshop?
2. any sofware/ service?
3. Ability to let others sell your products.

As far as first is concerned, answer is
go register one domain name and then get one hosting a/c , write your sales letters and other pages and you have non-ebay store.

Now you need to add functionality so your website can accept payments from buyers.

solution is sign up with
paypal.com or 2CO.com

You can add Shopping cart softarwe to your site also , if yo have many proudcts to sell.

---
As far as associate's sales are concerned you need to have specialized script installed on your site. Which let them register with your site and then assign them specific links, and track
the sales from those links and
report commisions to them.

I will suggest also third party network can help you hire many affiliates to sell your site, and they manage all hassels.

two big are www.ClickBank.com for digital products
www.CJ.com for all products
