Very!!!!
A friend of mine (Mike) was injured at work, and he went the standard medical approach. and he was put on percodans (SP) for the pain.
Hishealthcare ended, and some friends finally persuaded him to see an acupuncture therapist, and three treatments later; he had his life back!

I've had a bad back for over 20 years now. I had an operation on it 5 years ago, but that didnt work. BEing 6'4, they put it down to height and growing pain for too many years. I had accupuncture about a year ago, and it helped for about a week, then the pain came back. They reconed it would take 20 more sessions, costing me £300. I never went back, but might trry 2 more sessions to see if it helps. If so, I may go for the full treatment. Be warned if you go though, after your session there is a massive sales push on herbal tablets and more sessions. I was offered 2 different herbal tables to take, costing £20 each. I'd have ended up taking 40 tablets a day with them, and I dont take tablets anyway, so I left them. Good luck

It's OK but the results are only short term! Had a similar problem a few years back and Acupuncture was OK but really only lasted a couple of hours

To cure suggests it will not return... I don't know if that is reasonable.
Back pain is caused by muscles having knots in at least some of the fibers that makes them tight. Because they are tight they do not have as much room to move properly with out applying pressure to nerves or other things. For more information (including how to help yourself) on muscles, pain and referred pain read The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Davies. 75% success rate
I use it with a chiropractor and a massage therapist because I am one of the 25% who have complicating issues.

Accupuncture is excellent for all types of pain, and can be very effective in treating back pain.I used to have it weekly, and my condition improved dramatically after the first session. After a few weeks i only neede it monthly, and was soon totally cured, after years of pain and endless prescriptions from my doctor.Give it a try, you may be plesantly suprised.

It depends on what's causing the pain. But a good massage will give you a great deal of relief, and follow that up with a heating pad. For the long term, you might consider stretches and exercises to strengthen your back muscles. Good luck!

It will be as useful as you need it to be. And it is truly a cure. It may take more than one treatment but worth the time and expense. Don't ask questions, just do it.

Acupuncture is good for almost any ailment, the needles work on stimulating nerves and muscles. But its only the first step you have to excercises to strengthen your back as well.

I had acupuncture in conjunction with chiropracty and it kept me mobile whilst waiting for surgery. It was good for me, but you need to be sure of the practitioner.

About as effective as a cactus if it's not actually the right answer for your problem. Read up on yoga and tai-chi if you go through with it, stick by it and it works out right, email me at anniethejester@yahoo.co.uk
I'd like feedback on whether it works as good for you as it does for me.
