ok we are moving this coming weekend and we have to bc our lease is up. We rent a basement and actually are moving bc its just a ad situation all around. Anyway, it snowed and iced here last weekend and their is like 4 inches on thick ice EVERYWHERE and it look like it is not going anywhere anytime soon with this cold we have. Our door is in the back of the house and we park on the road. we cant move all this stuff on ice and our cars will hardly move what will we do. How can we melt a walk way that long in the ice? Its so hard we cant even break it.

Good luck, I actually had to take an AX and break it apart, stupid me for doing it too... im 38 weeks and it was dumb..... I think your best bet is to have someone chop it with an ax or sharp shovel, then you can pour hot water on it to make is movable slush, then after all is clear put an Ice prevent on the pathway. I found it was the most effective way to clear that pesky ice. Good luck.

get a garden hose with a spray nozzle on it, and an adapter that allows you to hook the hose up to your kitchen sink faucet. Spray hot water on the walk until it largely melts, then lay down a heavy coating of ice melting pellets to keep it from refreezing. The adapters are sold at Lowes or home depot., probably
