First of all the top 8 teams from each the west and the eastern confrence get to the playoffs. Then the 8th place plays the 1st place team and the 2nd place team plays the 7th place team and so on and so forth. The winner of the seris is the one who wins 4 out of 7 contests first. They are best of 7 seris. after the first round 8 teams are left and after the next round 4 teams are left until each the best team which make it all the way to the final play each other. Ultimately the first place team in each conference make it to the final but it doesn't always happen. To answer your question about when they start they start after all 82 games are played and are usually around May.

The NHL playoffs start after the regular season, which would be in Mid-April. They take the top 8 teams in each conference and pair them up like the NBA. The top seed in each round faces the lowest seed. Each round is Best of 7 and lasts about two weeks. The winners of each conference play for the Stanley Cup.

A total of 16 teams make the playoffs(8 from each conference). The top 4 teams in each conference get home ice advantage in a first round best of 7 series. First team to win 4 games moves to second round. round two is also a 7 game series.Next come the conference finals. The two remaining teams in each conference(Eastern and Western) play a 7 game series with the winner moving on to The Stanley Cup Finals. This also is a 7 game series. First team to win 4 games and you win the Stanley Cup. All this madness will start in early April.

The playoffs start in the middle of April and run to the beginning of June. 16 teams- the top eight teams in the Eastern and Western conferences. Four best of seven rounds. After each round, the teams are re-seeded so that the highest remaining seeded team plays the lowest remaining seed with the higher seeds getting home ice advantage so it is conceivable a team that does not have home ice in the first round will get it in a later round. Seeding is done in the first round so that each division winner is seeded one, two, and three to assure the division winners get home ice in the first round, but not necessarily as the playoffs go on.

there are 16 teams 8 from the eastern conference and 8 from the western conference.
The #1 team from each conference will play the #8th team for 7 games best out of that match up, (winning 4 games) advances to play the next winner out of their conference until there are 2 teams one from each conference.
Then those 2 teams will play the best out of 5 games
Whoever wins, wins Lord Stanley's Cup!!!! (Which will be Vancouver Canucks!!!)

Getting previous Dallas, Anaheim, San Jose, all of them could be sturdy communities this 300 and sixty 5 days. 6. no probability of the NHL going to Vegas, much greater communities deserve it in the past Las Vegas 7. i do think of Wilson is a mistake for the leafs, Torts must be there to tell the gamers that they actually suck, and with a bit of luck they p.c.. up their interest. make advantageous that Toskala is pulling his weight, which i think of he will lower back
