Over the years mine has changed, at first it was Paul, then John but now its George I think John and Paul undermined his songwriting abilities in the Beatle years.

George - just lived his life according to his own principles. Could easily be overlooked as he made it look so easy.

It's a tough choice for me between George and John. I think John's legacy is what keeps drawing me back to him. But George led such an incredible life as a musician and just a good guy.

George. He was way cool (even looked fit with a moustache) and wrote Something and Within Without You, two of the best and most underrated Beatles songs. George all the way!

John's songs are stronger I think overall.
George was certainly held back - when you look at the somegs that he wrote towards the end that did not get on Abbey Road and Let it Be - (Isn't it a Pity, All Things Must Pass etc) and see what was put on instead, it's obvious that he was not allowed too many songs per album.
