You will need to have completed your undergraduate degree (top 5-10%) of class and most importantly take a GMAT exam. They will also probably look at your experience, activities and finally pass a TOEFL.

The cost of a top business school 2 year tuition is around $60,000 to $80,000 Us (plus living expenses), but there are less expensive alternatives if you look past the top 10 schools.

Which B-school is "best" depends largely on what you intend to specialize in, but an excellent side by side over view can be found at:

Also keep in mind that there are excellent B-schools offering MBA's outside the US!

The MBA is an huge investment in effort, time and money but can help you acheive substantial salay raises, learn from interesting teachers and allow you to make great friends.

Before applying do your research well to find the best match for you.

you need a B.A. (basically just a 4-year college degree) before you get an MBA. It doesn't really matter what you major in, although it wouldn't hurt to get it in something business-related. The most respected ratings on top universities are - for undergraduate degrees, U.S. News and World Report - and for MBAs, Business Week. (The Wall Street Journal and the Economist also do ratings). It is generally accepted that the top MBA schools are Harvard, Stanford and Wharton, followed by Michigan, Northwestern (for marketing) and U. Chicago. There's a close-second tier (Dartmouth, UVA, Columbia, MIT, Duke) and then after that, anywhere in the top 20-25 should be fine. Most of the top schools cost about $30,000 per year (x 2 years) - some state schools like Indiana can cost considerably less, even if you are (as you obviously are) out-of-state.
