The terrorists want to disrupt our society. Bush and his followers are more than willing to give in to the terrorists' wishes by alleging that even talking freely about the war hurts our cause!

If winning this war requires us to let the terrorists win first, doesn't that maybe raise a red flag or something?

Butterbar Bob -

I kind of get the impression that you're a no-BS kind of guy so I'm going to no-BS mode with you here, all right?

To me, the democratic process is non-negotiable. That means that long before we start these operations, we should always take the American public's reception of it into account and plan around it. If there's reason to suspect that waning support for the war will cause it to collapse on itself half way through, a good leader will brace for this or change direction, not compromise our democracy or freedom of speech.

Terrorism is a "tactic", therefore ....ANYONE who believes that a war against a "tactic" can EVER be won,is quite disillusioned,to say the least....( the way to subdue terror,is to simply not be frightened)

Basically, you think that having people, especially politicians in power, speak against the war doesn't undermine our troops and doesn't encourage the enemy? Because, it does. Just ask the North Vietnamese why they honor people like Fonda and Kerry and the rest of the anti-war protesters. Without the anti-war people, the North Vietnames would have sued for peace. Without the anti-war people, the North Vietnamese would not have broken the peace treaty and enslaved the South or caused the suffering of millions.

The problem is that you people haven't the least clue about the repercussion of your words and actions. When the prominent candidates for the Dem party talk about abrupt withdrawl of troops from Iraq, the insurgents and terrorists are sure they've won.

And when so many Americans talk about cutting and running, it encourages our enemies to greater exertion, causing more US casualties and more innocent Iraqi casualties. This is simple truth.

He only wants to get the terrorists, he wants to tap their phones and so on, but the liberals want to print in the New York Times all our techniques, the NYT is the liberal gift to the terrorists, a guide to the tactics of the USA.

Becaue they have been taken in by the fear tactics of Bush, Cheney, etc.--and their motive is obvious: they can't get the kind of power they crave as long as democratic institutions like the Constitution--and the American people--stand in the way.

What would really be giving in to terrorists is the cut-and-run attitude that is too prevalant in our congress.
