Through Arab media, I have heard of of dark stories of out-of-control rentals and purchases, scaring expats away. How risky is it to try to make a new life in Dubai?

I'm an American, and already accustomed to getting anything I want. But I'm attracted to the international opportunities I hear so much about.

I guess no problem if you are Tiger Woods or Michael jackson, now you must think down the road about possible re-sale, most americans will not consider it,, so if you plan to stay there a long time, then take a chance, I would spend my money elsewhere, yes 'the ugly americans' are hate in majority of the middle eastern countries,,goodluck...
