It usually takes at least 10 days after conception before you will test positive. It's always best to test the first day of your missed period. Too many women test too early and get false negatives. An hpt will detect if your body has the hcg hormone, which is what your body produces when you're pregnant. If the amount of hcg is too low, then the test will show negative. The level of hcg doubles about every 2-3 days, so waiting a few days can make all the difference in the test results.

Every one is different and every pregnancy is different. I knew before I even took a test with one pregnancy. I was just sick and knew that feeling. With others, I was delightful surprised.
I usually took my pregnancy tests about 11days after ovulation. I would continue to test every couple of days until my period started. I bought cheap and very reliable tests to begin with. The Walmart Equate tests. Good luck if your trying!
