I have updated chips/processors/cards etc. in desktops for years, is it just as easy in a laptop? I'd hate to take it apart and not be able to put it back together again.

Nope. In most cases, it's impossible. Upgrade the RAM and that's about it. Check your laptop at http://www.coastmemory.com and see what the MAXIMUM RAM your system will take... and get it.

Good luck and Happy Computing!

Upgrades to laptops are limited. Many do not come with a card slot for upgrading graphics. CPU upgrades are really limited also. Most common upgrades for laptops are memory and hard drive upgrades. Go to your laptop makers website and see if you can located a technical or "service" manual for the laptop this will give you an idea of what you have to look for in upgrading your machine.
