Aboslutely. It takes the utmost endurance to do lap after lap after lap, driving the perfect line while taking into consideration the other cars on the track, flag signals, details from your pit team, etc. Plus these cars have extremely tight steering and if you are out of shape you probably couldn't get three laps in without your arms turning to rubber, and since these cars are so amazingly responsive, you must be in full control at all times.

Yes you have to be extremley fit and to have very quick reaction times.
