probably both...mack is a very good coach and one of the best recruiters in the country, but vince made him look better than he is...and i don't think he did a good job this season, his team was on a crash course for the big 12 championship and possibly the national title game and they collapsed- lost to k-state and then at home to a&m

Mack Brown is a very good coach who punches his figurative "ticket" by means of recruiting. He is possibly the best recruiter in the nation and, when coupled with the annual talent in the state of Texas, there is no reason why UT should not win 10-11 games yearly.
In this culture's obsession with "Championship or Bust, all or nothing, etc", some folks will always find something to gripe about. However, Mack Brown recruits exceedingly well, has paved the way for exemplary facilities in Austin, surrounds himself with a bevy of capable assistants and has been successful, in my estimation. Vince Young or no, Texas should be a national power for seasons to come.

Mack Brown is a good coach. When he coached at North Carolina he had the Tar Heels ranked in the top ten. I believe they also had a big win against Florida State. And since he left UNC they have been terrible. But lets not forget possibly the most important job in college coaching.....Recruiting. Mack Brown keeps all that Texas talent from going elsewhere. This is one questions that can be answered with numbers, just look at Mack Browns winning % at Texas.

Mack Brown is alright but i wouldnt call him great. Vince Young is the New Vick and in the end of the season when he started playing his way, the titans won like 5 in a row. Id give Vince Most of the credit here.

Oh man, what a great question. I go to UT and can tell you Mack is a bum. Vince Young was the sole reason we won the championship. Mack Brown's staff is very conservative, and watching the team this year suck it up on defense was very frustrating. I don't think Mack will ever win the "Big One" again.

Mack is a very good coach and a very good recruiter, year after year. Vince Young is a stand-out QB and football player - TX probably would not have won the national title without him.

Watching Young play the last half season in the NFL, you know he is pretty darn good. I think he's much better than Vick (although that's not saying very much right now). He's young, talented, got the size, and actually has an okay arm when he needs to throw it. Mack Brown or not, he's pretty good. Colt McCoy on the other hand might be the product of Mack Brown's tutelage but that remains to be seen since he's still VERY young.

i think Mack Brown is a good coach because the Longhorns did pretty good last year with Colt Mccoy, and Mack did real good with the defense the year the Longhorns won the National Championship
