In ways I think the internet has been really good for music...it's great publicity, especially for smaller or local bands. Put a few songs on myspace, let the world hear what you sound like, and you could have a lot more fans than you did before. That's how I've discovered quite a few local bands...my friends will go to shows and come back and tell me to check out a certain band's myspace and listen to them.
