I had the same problem. Was put on the pill, which did help me a lot. After several years I did develop high blood pressure (not related to the pill) and migraines. So I had to make a choice come off the pill or have a hysterectomy. I stayed on the pill for several more years and finally decided on the hysterectomy. I have been very pleased with the results, no bad periods, no migraines and no worry about drug interactions.

I used to have unbelievably heavy periods that went on for months. I was lucky in one way that I had no pain, though this sometimes meant I was unaware of just how heavy the bleeding was until I had 'leaked'.
My doctor tried many versions of the Pill but the thing that worked in the end was a Mirena. It stopped my bleeding within days and now I have very light short periods.

Have you tried going on the Pill? I had much the same problem, and it really helped me; it made my periods regular, much lighter, and almost pain-free. It was great, I was really suffering (I'm allergic to anti-inflammatory painkillers like mefenamic acid so I couldn't take that) and it helped so much.
Even if the Pill doesn't make your periods any better, there are now some brands where you only have to have a period every 3 months, which might help.
Best of luck!

Hello, I also experience thses. Been to the doctors and was put on the pill to try and control the bleeding and pain. Unfortunately this hasnt helped and was perscribed mefenamic acid which can reduce the amount you bleed and the pain, it also helps if you get big clots in your period. Possibly go to the doctor and ask about some treatments.
Hope this helps :)

I would suggest talking to your doctor about the pill Yasmin. I have been on it for nearly 2 years and my periods are much lighter than before and my cramping is not so bad either. As a bonus I have clearer skin too! I hope you feel better soon, cramps and heavy periods are really miserable xx

First of all let me tell you I feel so sorry for you. I had the same problem, I don't want to scare you, but I ended up having a hysterectomy, because it turned out I had polycistic overies. Go to the doctors and get checked out, it could possibly be that you are anaemic, or if you are on the pill, you may need to change it because it doesn't suit you. It could be something or nothing, but go to the docs, just to be on the safe side. GOOD LUCK !!!!!

See your GP / Doctor. This could be down to a number of things including Polycystic ovarian syndrome, or endometriosis, or a large numer of other possible causes. Many of them are HIGHLY treatable, some with simple adjustments to diet. You could be feeling much better REALLY soon (and saving on the washing) I know I've been there

Have you had an ultrasound scan recently?
If not ask your gp for one. Heavy periods can be due to a number of things.
I find feminax tablets are great for period pain. I have heavy periods but a scan revealed NO endometriosis.
