i know a number of british citizens who live in Luxor mostly female. firstly i would say to you be very careful most of the men out there want only one thing your money and they will say almost anything to get it. Most of the people i know out there went out initailly to marry a local and almost with out excpetion have all been asked by their husbands for large sums of money.
i would say the best thing for you to do is look for work with one of the big travel companies
you could try an extended holiday in sharm inittially while you look for work then you will need to ask about changing or extending your visa. again i know most of my friends have had to prove they can keep them selves. by working or showing an income.
its a beautiful country and i love going ther but there are many problems out there do be careful. good luck
ps i can ask for more information fomr my friends if you want further send me a message
pattie you need to send me an e mail address if you want an answer. your message box was blocked

I think alexandria is the best.because there u can enjoy a good weather.it's not very hot at summer like in cairo, sharm el sheikh and of course the south where aswan and luxor.U can find a wonderful nature with the sea and it's not super crouded like cairo where u will certainly suffer from living there for years.so I think alexandria is the best and whenever u wish to visit sharm el sheikh it's only 9 hours by the bus.

Hi i would say it depends on what you want to do. I am half egyptian but born and bred in UK but i always go to egypt (ofcourse). Anyway, I am actually thinking of going to live in egypt for a couple of months too. If you go to www.jobsabroad.com they have jobs out there which you could part take in. I have just applied to a job out there as a Sales Executive for the Ministry of Sound nightclub in Sharm El Sheikh and the good thing is that my brother lives in the Red Sea area and so I will be near him. Anyway, with this job, it is 6months, flights to and from egypt are free, accommodation, food and drink is free as well and you get paid £350 sterling cash in hand every month. I know it doesnt sound like much but when you have free accomm and flights etc, its very good because that leaves you with 4000egp roughly to spend or save as you choose.
I wouldnt particularly reccommend Cairo, even though its great, but the pollution there is crazy, it is the largest city in Africa. Alex is beautiful, second largest city but the air is fresh because its right by the sea, well anyway, wish u luck in whatever u choose.

Decide first about the job or the job field . If you want to go first ok find a 2 or 3 star hotel with a good price. When you arrive you have to find a small flat or studio if you like that. To learn Arabic is something else. You have to find someone who is able to exchange language in Sharm or a teacher in Sharm. Otherwise you have to learn in Cairo and this will be more easy to learn Egyptian spoken Arabic.

Sharm El Sheikh is good for living.
You just have to tell the authorities that you're willing to stay, so that you get your residency papers. and i think you have to state your reasons for why you want to do that, i.e. what is your work will be in Egypt? anyway you have to pass by the Immigrations dept. and the National Security people.

Hmmm... depends really, Alexandria would be more suitable for you but if you prefer city life then Cairo might be better for you, I would advice to find another city though like El Minya, Cairo is sooo crowded nowadays you might not like it. If your wanting to work there for the years that your staying then, Minya won't be suitable, In my opinion you should go Alexandria...
Your so lucky i wish i could live in Egypt for some years..you will learn fluent arabic when you come back to England!
God bless and I wish you all the best!

Don't think Cairo, think Alexandria. it's a great city. Anyhow Egypt is a great country and anywhere you go you'll be fine, it's just that Cairo is really hot, crowded and the carbon monoxide is everywhere; which caused me (an Egyptian) to be sick, Good luck. Ciao!

well just my personal opinion, but if you want to move to egypt, you would want to see egyptian history and culture? i would personally look at Cairo, it is a busy city and the pyramids are pratically next door....look into it, but it all depends on what you want to go for.
