...get into grant writing. I have a slight amount of experience in it, but worked for 20 years as a researcher. Was wondering if these 2 things combined would gain me entry into GW. I would absolutely Love to do this.

Most definatly! Sociology is about getting involved with the community and many places and universites have special grant writing offices. A sociolgoy degree combined with expericne should allow you to get a job there!

The olny way I know is to become a teacher. Then write grants to get money for your school/ class.
