Britain would be better off being Britain and forgetting about English, Irish, welsh and Scot's and truly being one nation and putting our Petty differences aside and then maybe we can be great. Having said all that, we do every thing that America Say's at the moment.

It is a very naive view to assume that because there are similarities in the English and American languages, the people are at all similar. Americans have many attributes that are completely alien to Western Europeans. They have limited world knowledge and fail to see the hypocrisy of their style of 'democracy' that appears to give Americans a superior status to the remainder of mankind. Their vulgar, greedy and pushy behaviour both as individuals and as a country has propagated their ideas around the world not due to merit but due to the force of arms and money.
Would we be better off a part of the monster rather than its piss-pot? Probably in the short term as our people would then have the legal rights and protection afforded to American citizens. In the long term no. The US epitomises the shortcomings of multi-racial society and lacking any real roots or culture will ultimately collapse upon its own decadence.

Out of sight means out of mind. We're better off getting a cr*ppy deal with Europe than being ignored by the USA.

Yes, just about, but we are not so like them, I prefer to be part of Europe, it's bad enough having Blair as a leader, can't even contemplate the other.

Europe has its faults but we are better off being European than being the most heavily taxed and furthest flung state in the US.
