That the entire continent of Africa is one big country.
That every African American Actor/actress can trace his/her roots back to South Africa and call it "home."
That we all live off international aid.
Apartheid is dead when it has simply been replaced by a politically correct racist pollicy called Affirmative Action.

You know, I just asked Simba, my pet lion, this very question a short while ago. We were sitting on a wooden stump outside my mud hut when I saw that a big dusty metal bird landed on our gravel runway, more commonly known as Joburg International airport.
It was then that I knew that there would be foreigners in my country who would find my traditional clothing quite strange as compared to their T-shirts and jeans. I hoped that I would have an opportunity to barter with these foreigners in order to obtain some luxuries such as Coca-Cola and some Diesel clothing or even better, a magazine that was mythically created by a certain Mr Hugh Hefner. As the sun beat down on my non-white skin (since there are no whites in Africa) I realised that perhaps it is time to go down to the fields where I coud hang my washing up using the cord connected to this computer (which is powered by a generator since there is no electricity in SA).
I then boiled some river water to quench my thirst, since we do not have adequate drinking water) and returned to my mud hut. Disappointingly, I saw that Simba had eaten my pet Sprinbok so I scolded him before going to sleep.
What a great day!

Most common myth I came across traveling abroad is that we all live in the bush! Surrounded by wild animals. Also found a few Europeans finding it Very strange that I was white.... And then there was a few that asked me how many slaves I had....!

That all South Africans are black.
When I first encountered this, I was travelling with a friend across Asia. She was horrified and nearly slapped this man who even suggested it. But then after a month of travelling and having been asked this question over and over, we just gave up. lol! I did not even think that people thought this!

That it is a Democracy based on a Western model. In truth it is Communist embracing Western capitalism to finance the elite.I fear for the long term viability of South Africa under ANC rule particularly when you look beyond the surface of their Policies and Statements e.g. Mbeki boldly states that 80% of Crime victims are known to their assailants. That being so then why is the arrest and conviction rate running at less than 11%? For me the ANC are misleading South Africans and the sooner they get rid of them the better.

i heard that we're practically living in a "War Zone" biggest overstatement if not myth...(i dont recall ducking bullets on my way to work or the shop)
and that people are living like Tarzan or Dianne Fossy (sorry if spelling is wrong)...who had to live in the wild if she was going to study Gorillas.
lol!! these are so funny and entertaining...i'm not the least bit offended, coz for a while when i was younger i thought America was everything i saw in the movies, with gangsters, cars crashing into malls and police men shooting off with criminals...drugs ruling the whole nation with strippers and shady clubs, street workers....just another television myth (see how media retards people?)

That their country is crime infested, that native South Africans are highly uneducated and spend their money on booze and are lazy (which is why Zimbabweans take their jobs from menial to professional), that so BEE is beneficial to political linked heavyweights and fronts only.
Some of these may be partially true
