Are you suggesting that the woman are not empowered just because the Govt has not taken effective measures? Are all good things are not happening because of Govt not doing something effective for them? There seems to be some perceptual error in the question... You can not ape the politicians to make us believe in such unconnected things... Something happening with govt measures... oh, simpleton!
Is not govt eradicating poverty over decades with its long eloquent policy statements, elaborate poverty alleviation programmes and massive outlays... only to know from its own Evaluation wing (of Planning Dept) repeatedly that hardly a significant allocation reached the intended beneficiaries... ?
Is not govt "eradicating" the terror outfits with its laws on paper, mind with the terrorist philosophies / outfits, hands restraining the enforcing wings from being harsh on major terror groups and so forth... ?
You want them similarly enact laws for women empowerment, heap praises on themselves in the Election Manifestos and declare that the women have been "liberated"... ? Dont you see the Mayavathis, Mumtha's and Sonia's already doing a revolution in public life... in the same way Meda Patkar and Maneka Gandhi are doing in social issues...? Don't you see the women riding bikes in haste to reach offices in the towns and the women in villages joining SHGs to earn their living with pride... But these are not fully govt made, mostly self made, banks are not simply giving loans to please Govt orders, but because these groups are really performing and earning profits...
The empowerment is already coming with greater literacy, greater institutional efforts (mostly NGOs) etc., the govt role compared to its volume of resources at disposal is very poor in "real terms" (at delivery end)...
So dont worry sir, women do not really want any "effective" govt action which would mean nothing in essence... They are already getting empowered by their increasing awareness of the world trend and their own skills... Jai Hind!

May be it because of Male chauvinism. Though every one talks aloud over this none take seriously about this issue. Women also do not show much keenness over this issue. Ages and ages our country never empower women and women also accept except a very few persons. Hence Government Of India has not taken effective measures to empower women. It is not fault of India but fault of all of us

Government of india consists of illiterate malechuvinists who think woman are inferior tomen so they will never pass the woman empowerment bill. India woman are also true to form and will not step out of the house to agitate for their rights.
Have you ever herad of a woman empowerment morcha being organises all over India?
The film actresses and Ngos like medha patkar know that it is not possible to organize woman morcha against the male politician

Do you think women are not empowered? If you are married you never ask this question. 95% of homes are controlled by women, remaining 5% are not controlled by women, because they are bachelors. What we see from out-side is not real, reality lies in-side. For example Mr.Manmohan Singh is Prime-Minister of India, but who is controlling the cabinet and Congress ruled states is best known to every-body.

The govt of India is not doing any thing they r just implementing new law for women to improve women life but after that they are very less supporter to bring forward women in front line every govt department. Also Indian have very poor mentality to respect women.
i think it will take another 100!! years.
