First of all, are you using a razor with shaving cream or an electric razor.
If electric, give it time, your skin will need to adapt.
If shaving cream and razor, you are probably shaving against the growth. DON'T DO THIS ANYMORE.
Always shave with the growth. I.E. if the hair grows downward, shave from the brim of your jaw downward towards your chest.
You may also be alergic to the shaving cream, or have sensitive skin.
In either case, change creams, try one with aloe vera, and use only a sharp razor. Oh, and one more thing....
I find that the cheap razors tend to cut wickedly and leave more rashes. Try the 3 or 4 bladed ones, even the ones that vibrate seem to work better too. Expensive as hell, but less abrasive to your skin.
And there is one more thought. If your beard grows in circles (so to speak) then shaving downward, upward, sideways, well, you get the point, no direction will keep you from shaving against the growth. In this case, use the techniques mentioned above:
Aftershave, shave in the shower (after heating your beard up with hot water-the hair gets softer), and other products as mentioned above.
Hope this helps.

Try switching shaving creams as you may have allergies toward one type or another. Take the razor and try shaving only in one direction. You should switch it to a disposable variety and make sure you are the only user of it. Sometimes people are allergic to the perfumes put into products like shaving cream too, so try a non perfumed variety. You might try shaving just every other day too, that you almost need a shave look is still in, so go with the flow. If all else fails, try an electric razor or grow a beard.

What you are describing is called razor burn.
To reduce or eliminate it:
Condition your beard before shaving by applying a skin moisturizing lotion to it and massage it in.
Preferably while still in the shower, apply a good quality shaving gel and work it into your beard well.
Shave using a new razor every week max.
After you're done shaving wash your face with tepid water and apply a good quality shaving balm.
Good Luck!

If you don't want to pay for an aftershave, then try cold water. lightly spray your face chin and down with a squirt bottle. Shave. Then Lightly spray you face again want LIGHTLY pad with a towel. You still want your face to stay wet, or the rash will come back.

This is what I have my hubby do. Take some hair conditioner-whatever brand you want, heat it up, not too hot. Hot enough to put on your face and tolerate it---without burning yourself. Then use that as your shaving cream- it softens the hairs, and creates a slick surface so you don't get razor burn. Good Luck!

I'm a nurse. It's the shaver or the cream you are using. Find another cream or shaver to use to stop the rash from forming on your chin. Take care.

You could try using one razor (a sharper one like Mach 3) for face and another one (something duller like Excel) for neck. Sounds strange but it allows the sharp blade to last much longer and the duller blade seems to cause much less aggravation on the neck. If you are using an electric, the only advice I could give is to switch, have no solutions for that.

Try using a scrub with AHA or BHA. The natural fruit acids in these scrubs will help shed the dead skin and clear the pores therefore providing the hair follicle with a clear way out.
Good luck!

My husband uses this stuff called "coochie". It's a cream you put on after shaving "down there" (I use it too) It works really good. We bought it from an at home party from a company called fantasia.
