or say your parachute didn't open or something..would it be possible to survive falling from a REALLY long way up? Also, which position would be the best to try and enter the water in? Feet first, on your back, head first?

Falling from a REALLY long distance into water would have the same affect as hitting concrete. So I don't think survival is possible.

But assuming I could control the angle and position I was in when I hit the water I think I want to be in a hands forward straight dive position (fingers, hands then head). I would hope my hands would break the surface tension of the water enough to keep the rest of me in tacked.

I think you would have more chance of surviving if you hit the land instead of the sea.... on land you might hit something to cushion your fall like a tree or something... if you hit the water you will almost certainly be knocked unconscious and drown. As for position, flat on your back would be the best way to land since the force would be distributed more evenly across the largest possible surface area.

Well, first of all if you are really high up then you might die due to insufficient oxygen. If not then the best position to land into the water would definetely be feet first with your toes pointing into the water and your body as straight as possible.

I don't think positioning matters. If you're falling from high up, you may as well be landing on concrete.
