English is my 2nd language. I don't quite understand when your ex wrote "please take care of yourself" means stop talking to each other? and what term will Americans use to express " stop talking to each other forever"? please help me, thank you very much!! :)

take care of yourself is like goodbye and i hope you take care of yourself as a person...
it means what is says....take care of yourself, don't get down, move on with your life, be good to yourself.....also means goodbye

I say "please take care of yourself" when I know the relationship is over or if a friend comes over and is moving away. If I was going to stop talking to someone forever, it would be a "f_ck off and die kinda thing. Hope this is helpful. Sorry if I offended anyone, not my intention but could not find any other English words to say what I meant.

it can mean. "i am leaving. i love you."
or, its just a simple take care.
or maybe you're sick? he asks you to take care of your health.
