yes it is like a video, but you dont need any disc's or tapes. with the twin tuners you can record two programs at the same time. you can also pause and rewind live tv (same as sky+)

PVR stands for Personal Video Recorder and is basically a receiver ( free-to-view terrestrial or satellite TV, and pay-to-view) with a hard disk drive so that you can record like a VCR, but without tapes. You say you are looking at a twin tuner PVR, i.e. one that can receive 2 channel simultaneously, so that you can view one, record another.
The hard disks come in various sizes, the bigger they are, the more you pay, generally. They also come in normal or high-definition, so make sure you opt for the one you can live with. Different models have different features in addition to the basic ones of record, view, pause, etc. There are picture in picture, slots for pay-TV, etc. Most have freeview, but will work with your TV even if it already has it.

its a freeview box with hard drive ( able to record on " memory " ).

The twin tuner is very useful, it allows you to record on freeview channel whilst watching the other.

BUT please make sure that you can recieve the freeview channels, you can check on

www.freeview.co.uk/home

hope this helps wg
