i am in high school and am creative with art work etc. i was wondering about career options. some one recommended graphic artist ...... but i really dont know what the job entails

A lot of different things like design web sites, brochures, ads, mailers, and POP (point of purchase) materials and creating logos or designing product layouts (what a product will look like). We do storyboard art for commericals too and prepare packaging mock-ups or layout drawings. Typically someone from marketing will give ad copy or other text and the graphic artist works around it.
Learn software like Quark, Photoshop, Illustrator, In Design, Dreamweaver, and Flash. There are others too but these are the most popular. Check career web sites like Monster for graphic arts jobs and read the descriptions. You'll get an idea of jobs out there and what companies want. Contact an ad agency in your area and see if you can have an informational interview and tour of the graphics department. If you have any big corporations near you can call them too and ask the same thing. These are the kinds of places where you will find the most work. It's a fun and rewarding career.

Design Graphic! A graphic designer must in ART and Painting! What they do is only sitting in front of the computer!
