Indonesia lies mainly south of the equator. The prevailing winds in winter are the southeast trade winds and in summer, the northwest monsoon. Most of the rain is associated with the monsoon so, yes, much of the rain comes with the northwest winds.

The northeasterlies and southwesterlies mentioned earlier are the corresponding winds of the northern hemisphere - the northeast trades and the southwest monsoon.

Most of Indonesia's rain will come from its monsoon seasons. It has a wet monsoon season from November to March when winds come from the northeast and a dry monsoon season from May to September when winds are coming from the southwest.
