I'm wondering if these people have resentments towards their adoptive parents for changing their birth name? I spend a lot of time in various schools and I see kids with different names getting picked on. Actually, my idea is to add to names of any kids we'd adopt (if we chose to change names) and not take anything away. Any feedback appriciated. Thanks!

I see what you are saying, but sometimes those parents who give up their kids(or they were taken) come looking for their kids and as a protective, adopting parents will change the name. The courts suggest it

My mom was adopted......She did change her last name but kept her first......even though she knew the biological last name......there is some resentment towards her biological parents which we found both of them seperated within the past 2 years. They both tell different sides of the story and refuse to see each other. She had no problem with the name change and honestly Im glad she got adopted because those were the only grandparents I care to know!!

My father was adopted and his name was changed from Gary to Joseph. He didn't mind it was all he knew and now as an adult he has contact with his birth siblings and they all call him Gary! It just depends I think age matters He was adopted as a baby so he never knew any other name but to take an older child and change their name would be wrong because it is already tied into their identity.
