What, in your opinion, is the best horror film ever made?

good question, I would say from a scary aspect that would have to be either Poltergeist or The Eye.
From a just plain good horror film aspect, I'd say Hellraiser.

The Exorcist, not because of the cheesy effects surrounding Linda Blair but the photography and build up to know what was going on behind that door.
The shots of the stairwells and noises really made that movie and the dark shots of the Exorcist arriving at the house.
The photography and audio set the mood and no film really has been able to duplicate that eerieness in my opinion anyway.

Scariest Horror - The grudge - those little kids scared the s**t outa me. ( grudge 2 is just not gettin watched)
Best Horror - Has gotta be Freddy. I was young when I watched them so yano. I don't get scared anymore.... well not as much hehe. By the way those films are Just classic. Well done whoever made them.
Closely follwed by......
Chuckie - Unbelievably scary as a kid but really entertaining as you get older.
Quite enjoyed the three 'Saw' films too.....

Creature from the Black Lagoon
The Invisible Man
The Wax House (w/ Vincent Price)
...and just about any Bela Lugosi movie
