You cannot make a circle look 3-dimensional. A circle is a 2-dimensional figure. A line, a triangle, a square, a pentagon, etc, are all 2-dimensional figures. A cube, a sphere, a pyramid, etc, are 3-dimensional structures. If you want to know how you can draw an image of a sphere, first draw a circle. Then add shadows to make it look 3-dimensional. Below is a link to help you visualize it.

A circle will never be 3D. It's a 2 dimensional object.
You need to turn in into a sphere by adding shading and highlights. Look at a ball or some other spherical object and observe the tones. usually, depending on the light source, there is a dot of pure light on the top, which graduates downwards into a darker tone until it almost reaches the bottom. At the bottom there is a little sliver of light from the reflection on the surface it's sitting on.
When drawing a sphere, make all your lines follow the curve of it's shape, make the lines uniform and don't blend with your finger.

Hey Mary,
A 3D circle is a ball. Look at any ball, and study the light and shadows on the ball. Depending on the light source, a shadow is cast, that gives some of the illusion to that what you draw is a ball.
Eggs are just elongated balls, sort of. Do the same thing to draw that, study the light and shadows, bright and dark.
Enjoy, have a ball.

If you are doing this on paper,
Shadow, lighting, texture, depth. Think of your own body. its casts a shadow over the ground. Texture on your skin or your clothes is emphasized by a light source coming from a fixed direction.
Most of all Its a 360 degree thing make a point of trying to show that so it lifts of the page. ( better yet go on google images and type in your request you will see some examples).
good luck

Its all about shadow. Don't make hard defined lines around the circle. Make a shadow at the bottom as well...
Good luck.
