Hi folks,
Rummaging through a small coin collection from many years ago, a bit of fun at the time, I have discovred an 1855 penny with the KN stamp on it. - Kings Norton mint.
My little book - out of date, tells me that only 500 were minted with this imprint, as the whole show changed.
The thing is not too worn down, all details legible.

Is the thing worth much I wonder ?

Bob.

There can't be many of those left Bob therefore it may be worth a few pounds. You could check with B A Seaby's of London who are reputable coin dealers. I hope you strike it rich!!

A coin with letters stamped on it, is considered by most as damaged, some people collect coins that have counter stamps, or were used for advertising. I can not find your coin listed in any catalog. There is a King's Norton Metal company in the UK, but it is a modern company and never had it's own mint. If it is an American large cent, then it was minted in Philadelphia, for that is the only place they were struck. Without more info I can't help.

It's probably worth a lot! But you should keep it . . . it's a collector's item.
